  1. Enter forum Nick
    1. Authentication is done for already registered forums users, if new user then use forum registration process, maybe a re-direct
  2. Enter brand and model number
    1. Common brand/hardware dropdown list so that a standard can be kept
  3. Create a program to gather system information
    1. Some sort of advisory & acceptance from user that their configuration files will be uploaded for all to see, maybe before emerge, “Do you accept that your conf files a,b,c will be uploaded…”
  4. Then you could emerge program name
  5. Upload info to Portal
    1. hostname
    2. uname -a
    3. cat /proc/cpuinfo
    4. emerge info
    5. lspci
    6. lsusb
    7. xorg.conf
    8. rc-update show
    9. rc.conf
    10. System.map
    11. kde/gnome (version)
    12. ls -lha /etc/skel
    13. uptime

Fun Stuff

  1. find someone with your hardware
  2. connect with other Gentoo users in your area
  3. search for systems like your own
  4. compare .conf files
  5. ask for help
  6. community can ammend your .conf file, option to update said .conf with new version, preview before update
  7. auto backup of .conf files on a daily basis to portal (selected .conf files only & size limit)
