Hi All,

I will be using iPython and [g]vim for this class. My box is Linux Mint Helena. I have a simple vimrc configuration e.g. just to follow the proper indentation as per PEP guidelines, syntax highlighting and running the script inside vim. I know nothing about version control and i hope it wont be required until further in the book.

My timezone is middle east time which is about 10-12 hrs ahead for people in the americas. Thought i share that  Grin.

Will people just post their thoughts and questions in the forum and be responded by the rest of the 'class'? That's what i have in mind in this kind of setup.

I also use vim and ipython. For this book I created a folder to keep all of my exercises in. I use the wiki to put any code that I want to remember and go back to it all the time, it has been invaluable. http://asterisklinks.com/wiki/doku.php?id=wiki:comprookie2000

I'm using vim across a few different OS's systems, but my primary system is a system76 laptop running Karmic.

I've used ipython before and found it very helpful.  I figure the best way for me to learn is to read a chapter and then the next day do all the exercises.  Worked well for me on the second chapter and I am starting the third tonight.
